Revit Architecture Workshop
Tuesday, June 26, 2007
8:00am – 12:00pm
Registration and continental breakfast at 8:00am
Workshop begins at 8:30am
Segment A - It’s all in the Family
Whether you are new to Revit Architecture or a seasoned power user, you have no doubt discovered how important families and the family editor are to your success in Revit. Everything you create in Revit Architecture is part of a family-consequently, understanding families and what it takes to manipulate them is a vital part of learning the software. Beginning with the difference between system and component families we will explore the critical concepts and terminology. After this brief introduction to terminology, we will focus the remainder of the session on component family creation procedures and strategies. We'll take a quick look at what is provided in the Revit libraries and learn about family templates. We will then look at procedures for building our own custom Families from scratch. We will even explore some of the more advanced techniques like the inclusion of dimension parameters, visibility parameters and formulas. Using the concepts and techniques covered in this session, you will learn how to begin tapping into one of the most powerful aspects of the Revit Architecture package.
This session will explore:
- Critical Family concepts and terminology
- Family creation procedures and strategies
- Dimension parameters, visibility parameters & more…
Segment B - BIM is in the Details
A play on words from the famous quote of Le Corbusier: "God is in the details." Details are no less important to Architects today than they were to Corbu himself. In fact, part of creating a successful Building Information Model (BIM) in Revit is knowing what to build into the model and what to apply as supplemental information or graphical embellishment. When it comes to graphical embellishment, Revit Architecture offers a powerful suite of detailing tools. This session will explore the process of extracting views from your model and then detailing them within Revit Architecture. You will learn about model views and drafting views. You'll gain understanding on when to model and when to draft and when to import graphics from other CAD programs. We'll cover detail components, drafting elements, symbolic lines, text, annotation, and keynotes. If you still believe the myth that you can't do construction documents in Revit Architecture, then this session of "myth busting" exploring the complete detailing process in Revit Architecture should prove illuminating.
This session will explore:
- Extracting model views and detailing them
- Model views and drafting views
- Detail components, drafting, annotation, & more…
Workshop packet with unique course materials included!
- Handout contains detailed course notes and step-by-step procedures that you can follow after the session.
- CD ROM contains project files used in the presentation plus PDFs and more.
