Session format: Sessions conducted online via GoToMeeting software. You will be sent an email confirming registration and given details on how to login. GoToMeeting works inside your web browser. You can either use your computer speakers and microphone for sound or call into the phone number given on the meeting login page. If you have not used GoToMeeting before, you are encouraged to visit www.gotomeeting.com for details on how the software works.

Registration: registration is required. Participants are registered on a first-come, first-served basis. If a class fills, a wait list will be maintained and repeat sessions scheduled based on demand. Upon completion of your paid registration, an email will be sent with login instructions for the session.

Multiple Participants: Multiple persons can view a session on a single GoToMeeting connection if you wish. Connect a projector and speakers to your computer to share the session with your co-workers. If you prefer to login to the class from multiple computers, you must pay for each login.

Cost: Session cost is $34.95 for a 50 minute course unless noted otherwise. Some courses are multiple sessions in length. Some require registration in all sessions, others allow sign up for just the sessions you choose. Please see individual course descriptions for complete details.

Session Length: Typical sessions last 50 minutes unless noted otherwise with an additional 10 minutes allowed at the end for general Q&A. Some courses include multiple sessions on different dates. Please see course descriptions for complete details.

Offline Viewing: All sessions will be recorded and made available for online viewing. Online viewing is included in the original attendance cost. Sessions will also be made available for purchase to folks who did not attend the live course after they have aired.

Revit Design Options

Part of the architectural design process is the consideration of various design schemes. The traditional approach to managing such schemes involves saving multiple copies of your project files under different names. This approach is not ideal when working with Revit projects as each time you Save As, you are creating a copy of the entire project file. Fortunately, Revit offers a solution: Design Options. Using Design Options, you can build multiple schemes for one or more portions of your project model directly into your project file - no Save As required!

The Revit Architecture Design Options feature gives you a flexible way to create, manage, and present your design proposals. In this session, we'll explore Option Sets and Options for presenting various proposals to your client, zoning board, or other stakeholder. Each option behaves independently from the others, fully managing both the graphics and the quantities reported on schedules.

Building Stairs and Railings

Creating Stairs and Railings can consume quite a bit of time and effort in a typical project. Like most major building elements in Revit, Stairs and Railings have robust three-dimensional parameters and can also display correctly in 2D views like plans and sections. Stairs and Railings have many unique parameters and constraints that allow them to respect code restrictions and help you quickly determine the optimal number of treads and risers. In this session, we will explore the basics of Stair and Railing creation. We will explore Stair and Railing sketches and learn how to make adjustments to achieve the results you need.

Detailing in Revit Architecture

Part of creating a successful building information model is knowing what to build into the model and what to apply as supplemental information or graphical embellishment. When it comes to graphical embellishment, Revit Architecture offers a powerful suite of detailing tools. This session will explore the process of extracting views from your model and then detailing them within Revit Architecture. You will learn about model views and drafting views. You'll gain understanding on when to model, when to draft, and when to import graphics from other CAD programs. We'll cover detail components, drafting elements, symbolic lines, text, annotation, and keynotes. If you still believe the myth that you can't do construction documents in Revit Architecture, then join us in the this session of "myth busting" as we explore the complete detailing process in Revit Architecture. This is a two-part session. Concepts will build cumulatively, so please make sure you can attend both sessions before registering.

Dates:

  • Session 1: Thursday October 1, 12:00pm - 12:50pm Central
  • Session 2: Thursday October 8, 12:00pm - 12:50pm Central
